Autumn Makeup Favourites 2015:
Autumn is here (my favourite season), and an early reminder that Christmas is nearly here!! For this weeks blog post, I have decided to share with you, my favourite products for Autumn this year.
Foundation: My favourite foundation at the moment (as you can probably tell from my makeup posts) is the NARS Luminous Weightless Foundation, in the colour Fiji. This foundation retails at £32.00, which is quite pricey; however, it is the best high-end foundation I have ever bought! I have oily skin, especially around my nose, forehead, chin and underneath my eyes. Before NARS released this foundation, I had made a trip to John Lewis to get their Sheer Glow foundation matched to my skin. The lady at the counter told me that NARS would be releasing the Luminous Weightless foundation, and said it would be great for covering up my acne (at the time) and would last much longer on my skin! I can certainly say I’m glad I waited, because this foundation works wonders! The foundation is designed to give a medium to full coverage, however it can be used for a light coverage by using a small amount. I use a Real Techniques buffing brush to blend this into my skin, and I always find my skin looks flawless after applying it. I always powder over the top to set the foundation in place, and this usually will keep shine away for a good 4/5 hours, before touching up my skin with more powder. I have used this foundation throughout summer, and It has worked so well! It is now starting to get a lot colder, and I am still absolutely loving this foundation.
IMPORTANT! When you first use this foundation, make sure give it a shake, with the lid on… I got foundation everywhere, but managed to clean it up, before my mum could see the mess I had made.
Highlighter: I recently popped into Superdrug just to get a few things, and ended up coming across a Collection makeup stand with their new cream stick highlighter and blushes. I’ve been looking for a good highlighter for Autumn and Winter, and thought I’d give the Collection Speedy Highlighter a go, as it was on offer! £3.99 reduced to £2.66, an absolute bargain! It is super pigmented and blends seamlessly into the skin to give a radiant glow. I absolutely love this product and I will definitely be purchasing another one, when this one runs out.
Mascara: I have heard so many people raving about this product, and to be honest I though this mascara would be nothing special.. I was so wrong. The Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara is by far my new favourite mascara! It gives my lashes so much volume and length, as well as lasting all day without any smudges. It doesn’t flake, so it doesn’t ruin the rest of your makeup, and it evenly coats each individual lash without looking clumpy. If you’re looking for a new mascara, you should definitely give this one a go!
Eyeshadow: MAC have recently just released these beautiful limited edition eyeshadow palettes, containing 9 different shadows in each palette. I saw the Burgundy Times Nine palette online, and knew that this would be the perfect eyeshadow palette for Autumn and Winter. The eyeshadows are much smaller than the single eyeshadows and quads you buy in MAC, they are probably the size of a 20p coin, which is a shame.. However, I know this palette will last me for ages. The colours include: honey lust, poppyseed, quarry, antiqued, embark, #noir, haux, star violet & sketch (Top L-R, Middle L-R & Bottom L-R). The eyeshadows come in different textures including matte and frost. They are very pigmented shadows, and blend in really nicely, without any fall out what so ever! My favourite shades in the palette are sketch and star violet. I think they really complement my eye colour (hazel) and make my eyes really stand out. If the burgundy palette isn’t for you, then MAC do the exact same palette for £30.00 in amber times nine, purple times nine and navy times nine.
Lipgloss: This Tanya Burr cosmetics lipgloss in Berry picking is truly wonderful. I’m not a fan of lip glosses, but this one is so good! It isn’t sticky like most lip glosses and leaves your lips looking a lot fuller. The colour berry picking is beautiful, one of my favourites from her collection! Check out my previous post for a full review on the Tanya Burr products.
Eyeliner: I had seen lots of posts on GOSH makeups Instagram about these eyeliners, and I have swatched them on the back of my hand before. I purchased one of the Xtreme Gel Eyeliners in the colour Plum. They stay on for such a long time, they don’t crack and they are highly pigmented! The rest of the colours in this range are beautiful! GOSH already have bright shades such as turquoise and purple, but I would love to see them bring out even more shades, including loads of other bright colours and maybe even neons! I personally think that the applicator is brilliant too, it is really flexible and enables you to apply the product exactly where you want.
Lipstick: This Maybelline matte lipstick in the shade Divine Wine, Is such a perfect autumn/winter shade. It is a deep red, matte lipstick (the camera doesn’t quite pick up how dark it is). I’m not usually keen on the feeling of matte lipsticks on my lips, because they feel very drying ;however, this lipstick isn’t. In fact it’s probably the best matte lipstick I’ve ever tried, because it actually feels quite nourishing on the lips. The formula is also very nice, it applies smoothly and you only need 1 or 2 layers. I can’t wait to try the other shades in the matte collection!
Bronzer: It’s another GOSH product.. This bronzer is fantastic! This gives such a natural, sun-kissed look to the skin without out looking cakey. The shimmer in the pearls gives you a really lovely radiant glow and warms up the face nicely. This product is great for those with fair/light coloured skin. It could work for those with an olive skin tone; however, the product won’t show up as much as it does on those with lighter skin. I’d also just like to say that GOSH products at the moment are actually amazing! I keep on finding some fantastic makeup products, and I’d highly recommend them if you are looking to try a new brand.
I hope you liked this post! Please feel free to comment and share your autumn favourites with me!
